Gladys S. Swanner, age 71, a resident of Pinetown, N.C., died on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010, at Beaufort County Medical Center. A private celebration of life will be held at Hillside Funeral Service on Sunday, Dec. 26, 2010.
Mrs. Swanner was born on Sept. 27, 1939 in Beaufort County, N.C., daughter of the late Adolph Augustus Sadler, Sr. and former Alma Jamie Cherry. She married Linwood Nelson Swanner on April 6, 1996, who survives. She attended Beaufort County Schools and was a life-long resident of Beaufort County.
Survivors include her husband, Linwood Nelson Swanner of the home; one daughter, Theresia “Reesy” Roop Neff of York, Pa.; two sons, Troy Lee Buck of Washington, N.C. and Gerald “Jerry” Bernard Roop, Jr. of Washington, N.C.; one sister, Betty Jane Boyd of Greenville, N.C.; one brother, Adolph A. Sadler, Jr. of Chocowinity, N.C.; two stepsons, Larry Swanner and Anthony Marquez; two stepdaughters, Jennette Cilluffo and Tammy Swanner; one grandson, Jason Ray Buck; and special friends, Ann Keeter, Vickie Wallace and Shirley Godley. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Alma S. Everette, Toby S. Furman, and Theresia “Reesy” S. Sawyer.
