Mrs. Ada Meekins Foster, age 86, a resident of 678 Old Pamlico Beach Road West, Belhaven, NC died Sunday January 2, 2011 at her home.
A graveside funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday January 5, 2011 at Pamlico Beach Community Cemetery at Ryder Hill officiated by Pastor Dean Fulford, Jr. and Pastor Stanley Jones. Pallbearers will be Shaun Hopkins, Benjamin Hopkins, Leo Huggins, Kenny Woolard, Ben Sheppard and Stanley Jones.
Mrs. Foster was born in Beaufort County on November 29, 1924 daughter of the late John William Meekins, Sr. and the late Rena Elizabeth Foster Meekins. She married Benjamin Franklin Foster on August 12, 1941 who preceded her in death on April 5, 1991. She was a homemaker and a member of the Missionary Baptist Church of Pamlico Beach.
Survivors include two daughters: Rena Foster Tyer and Velma Foster Huggins both of Belhaven; four grandchildren: Katrina Tyer Sheppard, Glenda Bryson Hopkins, Teresa Bryson Woolard and Lisa Bryson Jones; four great grandchildren: Joshua Woolard, Shaun Hopkins, Benjamin Hopkins and Ashley Jones. Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by a grandson: Jeremy Blake Tyer and a great grandson: Lance Corporal Johnathan E. Kirk.
