Mr. Grover Cleveland “Cleve” Perry, Sr., 59, passed away Friday, Jan. 7, 2011. The funeral service will be conducted Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Greenville with the Rev. Warren Grubbs officiating. Burial will follow in the Hamilton Cemetery.
Mr. Perry, a native of Beaufort County, lived his early life in the Stokes community of Pitt County. He farmed for a number of years and worked as a route salesman for Abbitt’s Mill for 27 years. He was a member of the Hamilton Church of Christ. He was a loving son, who took his mother and brother into his home after the death of his father.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Garfield and Minnie Martin Perry; sisters, Hazel Perry, Susie Cooley and Frances Tyson; and brothers, Leroy Perry and Melvin Perry.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, S. Kathy Griffin Perry; son, Cleve Perry, Jr. and wife, Teniqua, of Williamston; daughter, Michelle Perry of Greenville; brothers, Robert Perry of the home and Harvey Perry of Stokes; and grandchildren, Malik and Jevany Perry and Christopher Jenkins.
