Ms. Doris Dean Williams Crutchfield, 80, a resident of 300 Minute Man Lane in Washington, died Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2011, at River Trace Nursing Center of Washington.
A graveside funeral service will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery located in South Hill, Virginia and will be conducted by Pastor Norman C. Smith.
Ms. Crutchfield was born in Alachua County Florida on June 11, 1930, daughter to the late Hiram and Ruth Fielding Williams. Some of her fondest memories included working a summer in Yellowstone National Park, spending time with her family, her yearly trip to the mountains, fishing, camping and traveling. Doris worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant and was a member of Love Baptist Church on River Road of Washington. After becoming home bound, she loved to watch Dr. Stanley on Sunday mornings.
Survivors include five daughters: Jane I. Bass, Juanita R. White, Gloria C. Hayslett, Norma D. Crutchfield and Dawn M. Taylor; one son: Tomie L. Ivey, Jr.; eight grandchildren: Jordan L. Ivey, Sam Ivey, Angela Lysandrou, Tara White, Brandon Hayslett, Malik Crutchfield, Montavis Crutchfield and Amy Bass; and two great grandchildren: Vanessa Rondon and Cameron Harsey. In addition to her parents, Ms. Crutchfield was preceded in death by one grandson: Philip R. Bass, Jr.; her four brothers: Eron Williams, Basil Williams, Hillary Williams, Theron Williams; and two sisters: Mary Bass and Christine Dubose.
The family will receive friends 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home of her daughter Jane Bass, 334 Helens Lane, Washington, NC.
