Baynes named executive director

The chairman of the Mid-East Commission Board of Directors, Merrill Flood, announced that Timothy Michael Baynes will assume the position of executive director of the Mid-East Commission on July 2, 2012.
Baynes comes to MEC from Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Governments, where he has served as executive director since 2006. Prior to serving in that capacity, Baynes was finance officer/assistant director to the COG from 1998 until 2006. He also has a background in accounting from other public- and private-sector positions he has held.
Baynes has a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from N.C. Wesleyan College. He has completed the county-administration course as well as other related coursework at UNC–Chapel Hill’s School of Government. He holds membership in the N.C. City and County Managers Association and Southeast Regional Directors Institute. He has served as board member of National Association of Development Organizations. He is treasurer of N.C. Association of Regional Council Directors. Baynes is married and has two children a daughter, 4, and son, 10.
