Chocowinity Primary School. Chocowinity Middle School. Southside High School. We see them in the Washington Daily News all the time. Some have even said that it seems as if those three schools are the only three schools in Beaufort County.

We all know they’re not.

Here at the Daily News, we have an open door policy with the schools: send us your pictures, your honor rolls, your awards, your news and we’ll do everything we can to get it in the paper. It’s a local paper, printing local news and what’s more local than publishing what the kids are up to in school?

Some would say that the above schools have taken advantage of the WDN’s pledge to get school news in the papers. To that, we say a resounding and cheerful, “Why, yes. Yes, they do.”

And that’s the way we like it. We encourage all Beaufort County schools to do the same and come the new school year, we’ll be actively soliciting school news from every school within the county lines.
