What started out as an awareness dinner has become more than just a fundraiser to celebrate contributors to the Purpose of God Annex Outreach Center.

Sharon Jones, agency director, said the upcoming dinner is a way to thank contributors for supporting the agency’s programs. The dinner begins at 6 p.m. tonight at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, located on North Bonner Street between East Main and East Second streets.

“And the adults we serve will be serving the audience,” she said. “Part of the evening will be dedicated to the presentation of the William and Linda Curran Scholarship Award, which will go to Marcirssa Carswell.”

Jones said the Currans are the agency’s biggest contributors and supporters. The William and Linda Curran Scholarship is available to any Beaufort County high-school senior who is a past or current participant in the agency’s programs. The scholarship is valued at $500.

Jones said former agency clients who have had positive effects on the community will give a presentation during the dinner.

Other speakers and presenters include District Court Judge Christopher McClendon, District Attorney Seth Edwards and others.

“We want to show the community what the Purpose of God is doing, what it has done and what it can do,” Jones said.
