Billy Gene “Buddy” Hardy, 64, a resident of New Bern, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at Two Rivers Healthcare Center. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. today at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 U.S. Hwy. 264 E., Washington.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 30, at 2 p.m. at Chapman’s Community Holiness Church, N.C. Highway 43, Vanceboro. Committal will follow in the church cemetery. A reception will follow the services in the church fellowship hall for family and friends.

Buddy was born Feb. 22, 1948, in Beaufort County, son of Leon and Sadie Jane Haddock Hardy. He worked in the automotive body business and logging.

Buddy is survived by his sisters, Helen Ruth Hardy Manning of Washington, Nellie Cannon Jones of New Bern, Vivian Hardy Coward of Grimesland, Alice Faye Jones of Vanceboro and Mavis Hardy Woolard of Washington, his brother, Eugene Hardy of Black Jack and his special niece, Julie Hardy Sutley.

In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his brothers, Linwood Ray Hardy and Donald Wayne Hardy.
