In response to Thursday’s editorial about UHS: You folks effectively removed all the competition. What makes you think that UHS would not drop its offer. If you believe otherwise, then you just don’t understand business.

After the new police station is built on Market Street Extension, I wonder if the speed limit will be changed to 35 mph.

I want to let people know that the gazebo in Aurora had become a hazard to visitors to our great town, and because of that it is being replaced with a totally handicapped-accessible picnic shelter for all the people to enjoy.

Obviously you have never visited the gardens of Savannah, Charleston or New Orleans. The aged statues all add to the ambiance of the lovely garden just as Harding Square is.

How does one go about getting speed bumps in a neighborhood?

The residents of Belhaven are being asked to foot the bill for a recreational area for eastern Beaufort County and Hyde County. Apparently, 85 percent of the participants don’t live in Belhaven. The mayor is pushing the effort in spite of concerns about how and who should pay for the playground.

I wanted to compliment you on the column on frugal living by Sara Noel. The helpful hints were nice. I hope that column will continue.

To write a letter to the editor, you allow 500 words. So unnecessary. To get a point across, rather than the constant repetition, one should do it in 150 words or less.
