Mr. Peter “Pete” Thurman Burbage, 87, of 206 King Blount Road, Bath, died Sunday, April 8, 2007 at the Beaufort County Hospital.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2007 in the chapel of Hillside Funeral Service with Rev. David M. Pooser officiating. Burial will follow in the Yeatesville Cemetery. Mr. Burbage’s nephews and great-nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at Hillside Funeral Service Tuesday night from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Mr. Burbage was born January 29, 1920 in Beaufort County. He was the son of the late Dewey Hobson Burbage and Amanda Brinn Burbage. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII. He went on to retire from the U.S. Capitol Police in Washington, D.C. On July 12, 1967, he married the former Barbara Potts, who preceded him in death on June 12, 2005. He returned to Beaufort County in 1979. He worked as a ferryman for the NC Department of Transportation, Ferry Division. He was a member of Sydney Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include one brother, Philip H. Burbage and his wife, Robbie of Bath and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one brother, Forrest Burbage.
