SOUND OFF / April 7

Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.

UHS’s reduction of its offer for Beaufort Regional Health System is a result of the detailed examination of the financial numbers. A well-run company will do detailed financial due diligence when investing and purchasing assets. Hood Richardson’s comments on UHS lowering its bid sounds like a petulant little boy who didn’t get his way. The commissioners continue to fiddle as Rome burns. As anyone knows, you get what you pay for.

To help fix the economy, quit taking from lower-income people and double the taxes on the rich, who can afford it.

About those islands: Who would pay for all this work? Is there a money tree in Beaufort County I don’t know about? This was a ridiculous suggestion.

UHS has one more big-money paid person to pay a big bonus to at the end of the year.

Why did the county commissioners approve the new allied health center at $7 million if they are already talking about how they are going to have to raise taxes? This building is not needed if taxes are going to be raised.
