Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.
What are the odds that the new jail can be approved in less than the seven years it took to plan the waterfront restrooms?
To the person calling in Sound Off and complaining about the number of people in Washington and recommending they consider moving to Hyde County: Hyde County doesn’t want a bunch of new people down there, a bunch of out-of-staters and stuff because we don’t want the problems that Washington has got from all of them people. So, whoever it is, let them stay in Washington, in Beaufort County. We like Hyde County just the way it is.
I have loved seeing the newspaper coverage of the Cal Ripkin Baseball League this year, from box scores to coverage of games and articles and pictures. The baseball league has been run extremely well this year.
I strongly disagree with an item in last Friday’s Sound Off. A newspaper’s job is to present the news, the facts, both sides of the story. You can’t just print the positive. I mean, you would never, ever print nothing negative? That’s not a newspaper. As far as the person being grouchy, well guess what? I’m the one that called. And guess what? I’m in my 40s. So, that kinda blows your “old grouch” thing right out of the water, don’t it?
