Scotland Neck — Hazel Williams Daniels, 86, died Monday, April 23, 2007.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2007 at Sunnyside Cemetery in Scotland Neck. The Reverend Doctor James Drake will be presiding.
Hazel was born in Martin County on February 19, 1921 to the late Bill Williams and Maddie L. Watkins. She served as a deaconess for the First Baptist Church of Scotland Neck, where she was active in the church’s Homebound program. Hazel worked in the Scotland Neck Hosiery Mill for 51 years and was a 50 year member of the West Point Pepperell Club.
Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest “Duke” Daniels.
She is survived by her son, Gene Daniels and wife Patsy of Roanoke Rapids; daughter, Dukette Phillips and husband Kent of Bath; sister, Louise Edwards of Goldsboro; three grandchildren, Major Brian Daniels and wife Amy of Derby, KS and Dana Phillips and Kris Phillips both of Greenville; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2007 at Letchworth Funeral Home in Scotland Neck.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church of Scotland Neck, 1015 Church Street, Scotland Neck, NC 27874.
