The 2012 graduates of the practical-nursing program at Beaufort County Community College received their nursing-school pins in a ceremony July 12 on the BCCC campus.

Those receiving pins were Michele Anderson, Lee Baynor, Pamela Bowen, Jonathan Coltrain, Tammy Cooper, Nicole Davenport, Cory Furlough, Buffy Gibbs, Tanika Harrison, Amanda Holsopple, Becky Jefferson, June Kudreyko, Nikita Whitehurst and Edna Williams

Pinning ceremonies in their currently recognizable form began in 1893. The pin is awarded to the nurse to recognize the achievement of entering the profession and to signify a graduate’s affiliation with a specific nursing school.

The recent practical nursing graduates are qualified to take the state licensure examination. Upon successful completion of the exam, the new LPNs will be able to work in long-term care facilities, acute-care settings and doctors’ offices.
