BCCC Computer classes offered this fall

The Division of Continuing Education at Beaufort County Community College will offer six classes this fall that will help participants more effectively understand and use computer programs.
The classes to be offered will help beginning and more advanced computer users. The registration fee for one class per semester may be waived for students 65 years old and over. The technology fee applies to all students.
The fall schedule of computer classes is as follows:
Introduction to Computers – A Beginner’s Class with Keyboarding will be offered from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning Sept. 11 and ending Dec. 6 in Room 822 of Building 8. The registration fee is $120. A $5 technology fee will also be charged. This 75-hour class is designed for older computer users. Under instructor Lisa Evans, this class will cover topics including the benefits of using a computer to complete every day tasks. Students will learn to use the keyboard and navigate with a mouse. Tips on buying a computer will also be discussed.
Introduction to Microsoft Excel 2010 will be offered from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Sept. 11 and ending Oct. 30 in Room 822 of Building 8. The registration fee is $70 and includes a $5 technology fee. Class size is limited to 15 students so early registration is encouraged. Instructor Linda Evans will cover topics including formatting a workbook, working with formulas, functions, charts and graphics. Students will also learn to expand Microsoft Excel with Visual Basic for Applications. Students will earn 2.4 Continuing Education Units at the end of the class.
Introduction to Digital Photography will be offered from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Sept. 11 and ending Oct. 30 in Room 822 of Building 8. The registration fee is $70, including a $5 technology fee. Class size is limited to 15 participants, so early registration is encouraged. In this class, students will experiment with Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 to edit and enhance digital photographs. Students should bring their digital cameras or a flash drive with photos to use in class. The instructor is Wendi Jackson of Say Cheez Photography.
Introduction to Computers will be offered from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays beginning Sept. 13 and ending Nov. 1 in Room 822 of Building 8. The registration fee is $70 and includes a $5 technology fee. In this class, instructor Christy Ange will review basic information on how to operate a computer. Students will learn to log on and off and create, modify, name, print, close and save a document. Many other tips will be discussed during the class.
Using Microsoft Word will be offered from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Thursdays beginning Sept. 13 and ending Nov. 1 in Room 822 of Building 8. The registration fee is $65. A $5 technology fee will also be charged. Students in this class will learn to type and design basic documents such as memos, letters and reports using Microsoft Word. Students will also learn the basics of designing tables and designing documents using graphics. Students should be familiar with a keyboard and with using a mouse to enroll in this class. The instructor is Lisa Evans.
Introduction to QuickBooks 2010 will be offered from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesdays beginning Nov. 6 and ending Dec. 11 in Room 822 of Building 8. Students will learn to set up charts of accounts, reconcile checking accounts, create and print invoices and track payables, inventory and receivables using QuickBooks 2010. Class size is limited to 15 students, so early registration is encouraged. The instructor is Lisa Evans. Students will earn 2.4 Continuing Education Units at the completion of the class.
