Sound Off highlights anonymous, brief takes on the news offered via telephone by Daily News readers.
Your “tune into hurricane warnings” editorial was quite timely, but a key element was missing. Where do we tune into in the event of the power outages that inevitably accompany hurricanes? Please provide the radio frequencies that we can tune into. Following Irene, we were able at times to find WITN simulcasting on the radio, but it was a hit and miss process. Editor’s Note: WNCT-TV broadcasts on 107.9 FM.
I wish y’all could explain why Phil Mobley is being inducted to the Hall of Fame at Washington High School. He did not go to Washington High School. He played for Robersonville and I don’t understand him being inducted for the Hall of Fame in Washington. Editor’s Note: Mobley was nominated based on his contributions to the City of Washington.
The way I see this thing is the City Council has a place to meet, and that’s where it should meet. An off-site meeting place is going to cost it extra money, one way or the other. And people are not going to give up their free time, as short as it is, to come to the City Council for a so-so meeting. If something’s really haunting a person, he’ll go to a meeting and express his opinion. Now, the way I see it, if the City Council is seeking information, it should get out in the community and circulate on its own time. Not knock on doors, but walking through the neighborhoods looking for people who are outside and ask them questions on the things they want to know about. People are not going to give up their free time unless something’s really haunting them.
Good God almighty, it’s a miracle! The Daily News sports don’t have anything about local sports on the front of their sports page. It’s a miracle! I can’t believe it. You actually got two NASCAR stories, college football, pro football. It is a freaking miracle. You know what, I now believe in God. There’s no local sports in the sports page. You have made me really happy. Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you. God bless you.
