Five competing for pageant title

Five contestants compete Friday in the 24th-annual Miss Engelhard Seafood Festival Pageant.

The pageant begins at 8 p.m. in downtown Engelhard. It helps kick off the Engelhard Seafood Festival, which continues Saturday.

This year’s contestants are Sara Elizabeth Credle, Jordan Blaine Harris, Jordan Danielle Cooke, Megan Kathleen Spencer and Allison Grace Armstrong.

Credle is the daughter of Terry and Devra Credle of Bath. She is 17 and a senior at Northside High School.

Harris is the daughter of Mark and Tynia Harris of Engelhard. She is 17 and a senior at Mattamuskeet High School.

Cooke is the daughter of Amy and Mickey Waters of Pinetown. She is 17 and a junior at Northside High School.

Spencer is the daughter of Flave and Pat Spencer of Fairfield. She is 18 and a senior at Mattamuskeet High School.

Armstrong is the daughter of Delbert and Renee Armstrong. She is 17 and a senior at Pungo Christian Academy.

Other festival activities and events include the blessing of the fleet at Big Trout Marina and the dinners served and sold by the Engelhard Volunteer Fire Department as a fundraiser for the department.
