Grant applicants sought

Beaufort County has been awarded federal funds under the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program.
Beaufort County has been chosen to receive $24,486 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the county. These funds are to provide food, utilities, rent and/or lodging. Under the terms of the grant program, area agencies chosen to receive funds must meet the following criteria:
• Be a private, voluntary nonprofit or units of the government;
• Have an accounting system;
• Practice nondiscrimination;
• Have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs.
If applicants are private, voluntary organization, they must have a voluntary board of directors.
Qualifying agencies are urged to apply. Public or private voluntary agencies interested in applying for funding must contact Marian Tabak at 252-946-2523 for an application. The deadline to submit applications is Sept. 28.
