On Tuesday, Washington police arrested Tracy Lynn Spivey, 36, of Windsor, on a common law robbery charge.

The arrest is the result of an investigation of a robbery that occurred Sunday afternoon in the Wal-Mart parking lot. Someone snatched a purse from a woman, knocking her down while fleeing, according to the Washington Police Department.

After detectives followed up on leads for several days, Spivey was apprehended in Windsor.

As a result of his arrest, Spivey also was charged with possession of crack cocaine. He also faces unrelated charges in Bertie County.

Spivey also faces charges of robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, maintaining a vehicle for the purpose of drug activity and assault by pointing a gun.

Spivey was held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $30,000 bond.
