The National Weather Service in Newport has issued a tornado warning for southeastern Beaufort County and north central Craven County until 5:45 p.m. today.

At 5:08 p.m., Doppler Radar indicated a tornado over Cayton, 11 miles northeast of New Bern, moving northeast at 35 miles per hour. Locations impacted include Edward, Aurora, Bayview and South Creek.

A tornado watch remains in effect for eastern North Carolina until 8 p.m. today.
