William Edward Basnight

William Edward Basnight, 70, of 21445 U.S. Highway 264, Swan Quarter, died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday morning, September 25, 2012.
Born in Pasquotank County on April 6, 1942, he was the son of the late William Earl and Elizabeth Boomer Basnight. He was married to the former Linda Mooney who survives.
William Ed graduated from West Hyde School in 1960, enjoyed working in his shop making things as a welder and fabricator. He enjoyed commercial fishing and spent 50 years working on the water.
A funeral service will be held at the family plot in Soule Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 27, 2012. Rev. Jerald Craddock will officiate.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Linda are a son, Eddie Basnight and wife, Tina of Swan Quarter and a granddaughter, Laura E. Basnight of Swan Quarter.
The family will receive friends at their home.
