Mr. Edward Leigh Mann, age 60, a resident of 815 E. 4th St., Washington, died Monday, September 24, 2012, at his home.
Memorial services will be held at noon on Monday, October 1, 2012, at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and will be conducted by Dr. Michael Price. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. prior to the service.
Mr. Mann was born in Hyde County on June 9, 1952, to the late Max and Ruby Cuthrell Mann. He was a graduate of Washington High School and graduated from East Carolina University with a Master’s degree in English. He was an adjunct professor of English and Creative Writing, serving many of the local community colleges in eastern North Carolina. Mr. Mann was a well respected, talented musician, and incredible guitar player. Prior to his career in teaching, he was a member of many bands including The Catalinas, The Kays, and Kruze. He had an unsurpassed passion and love for music beginning at an early age and spanning his entire life. Mr. Mann was a member of First Christian Church of Washington.
Survivors include his daughter, Jessica Leigh Mann Fell and husband William E. Fell, Jr. of Wilmington and his grandson, William “Wil” Fell.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the William Edward Fell III Educational Fund, c/o Edward Jones Investments, 1251 Highland Dr., Washington, NC 27889.
