James Robert “Bob” Grimes

Mr. James Robert “Bob” Grimes, age 65, a resident of the Sterling House, Greenville, NC, and a former resident of Plymouth, NC, died Friday, October 5, 2012. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, October 7, 2012, at 3:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Service officiated by Rev. Brett Hedgepeth. A private interment will take place at the Grimes Family Cemetery (The Grimes Plantation). The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 2:45 PM at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy. 264 E., Washington, NC. The family will also receive friends at the home of Edward & Martha Harding, 215 Pamlico Dr., Washington, NC.
Mr. Grimes was born on April 27, 1947, in Beaufort County, son of the late Bryan and Bobby Musgrave Grimes. He graduated from East Carolina University and retired from Weyerhaeuser after 28 years of employment in the drafting department. Mr. Grimes was a member of Ft. Branch Sons of Confederate Veterans, Sons of American Revolution, Military Order of Stars and Bars and a past member of the Rams Club.
Mr. Grimes is survived by his brothers, John W. Grimes and wife Connie of Washington and William Demsie Grimes and wife Myrtle of Mockville and his sister, Martha Grimes Harding and her husband Edward of Washington and 3 nieces and 3 nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Grimes was preceded in death by his brother Bryan Grimes, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Church (Anglican), 2289 W. 5th St., Suite 400, Washington, NC 27889.
