Glenn (Butch) Douglas Denton, 63, of Jamesville, NC, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012.
He was born November 12, 1948, in Oakland, CA, to Gwen Denton and the late Walter Clyde Denton. Butch was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during Vietnam. He was employed with Dominion Power for 39 years and retired in 2009. Butch was an active member and deacon of the Poplar Chapel Church of Christ in Jamesville, NC. He was actively involved in the Jamesville community and was a past member of the Jamesville Ruritan Club.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 15, 2012, at 6:00 PM at Poplar Chapel Church of Christ, with the Rev. Brian Barr and the Rev. Ernie Williams officiating. Burial will take place on Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at 2:00 PM at Washington Memorial Park, 6217 Memorial Dr., Sandston, VA.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Cobb Denton of the home; three children, Michelle White and husband Brian of Chase City, VA, Kristie Holliday and husband Mike and Scott Jackson, both of Greenville, NC; two grandsons, Brian White, Jr. and Drake Holliday, and a granddaughter, Heather White. He is also survived by his mother, Gwen Denton of Ashland, VA, and two brothers, W.C. Denton and wife Vivian of Montpelier, VA and Paul Andy Denton of Georgia. Butch was preceded in death by his father, Walter Clyde Denton.
The family will receive friends on Monday, at the church from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM and other times from the home. Memorial contributions may be made to Jamesville Fire and Rescue, 1035 Hayes Dr., Jamesville, NC 27846.
