Ethel L. Campbell

Mrs. Ethel Lee Lancaster Campbell, age 88, a resident of 409 E. 5th St., Washington, died Friday, October 12, 2012 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital.
Funeral services will be 2:30 pm Sunday, October 14, 2012 at First Free Will Baptist Church and will be conducted by Rev. Todd Parrish. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Mrs. Campbell was born in Craven County on August 16, 1924 to the late Jacob and Orpha Lewis Lancaster. On March 8, 1942 she married Raymond Mills Campbell who preceded her in death on September 12, 1954. She was a graduate of Farmlife High School in Vanceboro and received her nursing degree after entering the first nursing class at Beaufort Technical Institute. She retired as a nurse from Beaufort County Hospital after forty-four years of service and was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Carol Mills and husband Joe David of Washington, one brother, Alton Lancaster and wife Edna of Washington, three grandchildren, Joe David Mills, Jr. of Washington, Jennifer Dale Mills, of Banner Elk, Troy Ray Campbell, Jr. and three great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Troy Ray Campbell, Sr., two brothers, Bill Lancaster, Jack Lancaster, and two sisters, Stella Haddock and Lou Creasman.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 pm until 2:15 pm prior to the service at the church and other times at the home of her daughter, Carol Mills, 308 Oak Dr., Washington, NC.
