Forget Black Friday.
Holiday shopping officially starts this weekend in Bath.
Friends of the St. Thomas Glebe house will be holding a tag sale. The sale includes everything from antiques to gift baskets.
“This isn’t just a yard sale,” said Lani LeFevre, an organizer of the event. “It’s a really wonderful opportunity to get baby gifts, wedding gifts, Christmas items. We just have a building filled with donations.”
LeFevre and a team of volunteers have spent more than 30 hours designing silk flower arrangements and gift baskets to sell at the fundraiser. She said their motivation was simple: to ensure the history of Bath stays alive.
Bea Latham, a volunteer for the event, said the sale is more than a source for great deals. It’s a chance to preserve a piece of local history.
“It’s not just a Bath thing. It’s a county thing,” she said. “The money that they give for this is going to be seen because it’s going to be the big impact of what this house can and will be.”
People can get a sneak peek at the presale party Friday evening.
“It’s going to be a festive evening,” LeFevre said. “We’re going to have refreshments and lots of really nice donated gifts for sale.”
The presale party is this Friday, Oct. 19, at the St. Thomas Glebe House and NOE building, 101 Craven Street. The fun starts at 5:30 p.m. and is $15 at the door.
