William “Bill” Rose

Mr. William L. “Bill” Rose, age 84, a resident of 25481 US 264 Hwy. E., Pantego, NC, died Thursday, November 1, 2012, at his home.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, November 4, 2012, at Mt. Olive Church of Christ Cemetery of Ponzer, officiated by Jim Bussell. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Williams, III, Bennie Rose, William “Binky” Jones, Johnny Rose, Lloyd Sawyer and Steve Midgette.
Mr. Bill was born in Beaufort County on August 7, 1928, son of the late Henry Thomas Rose, Sr. and the late Katie Mae Chambers Rose. Mr. Bill attended Pantego High School and married the former Doris Louise Sawyer on June 7, 1955, who survives. Mr. Bill served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II. On February 1, 1991, he retired as weigh master from PotashCorp of Aurora. He was a charter member of Pantego Academy Museum where he served as the bell ringer.
Surviving along with Mr. Bill’s wife Doris of the home are a daughter: Gloria R. Williams and husband Lee of Scranton; a son: Howard Rose of Pantego; two grandchildren: Lloyd Williams, III and Trisha Williams and a great-grandchild: Quinton Vick. Mr. Bill was predeceased by a daughter: Teresa Lynn Rose on July 20, 2009; a sister: Adelaide R. Eygabroad and eight brothers: Henry Rose, Jr., Charlie Rose, Robert Rose, Benjamin Rose, Norris Rose, Johnny Rose, Howard Rose and Rufus Rose.
The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery and other times at the home.
