Terry Lee Deal

Mr. Terry Lee Deal, age 62, a resident of 221 Pamlico Drive, Pamlico Village, died Monday, November 5, 2012, at Vidant Beaufort Hospital in Washington.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 7, 2012, from the Chapel of Paul Funeral Home & Crematory in Washington, conducted by Pastor Todd Parrish. Burial with military honors will follow in Oakdale Cemetery, Washington. “Eddie” Paul Congleton, Adam Congleton, Rick Congleton, Joe Paul Congleton, Sammy Squires and Marty Martin will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Deal was born in Beaufort County on March 17, 1950. He was the son of D. Bryan Deal and the late Virginia Tyer Deal. Mr. Deal graduated from Washington High School. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force from 1968 to 1972. After his military obligations, he worked at Larry’s Shoe Store, Tidewater Supply Company, Transmission Supply Company, Life and Casualty Insurance Company, Motion Industries and Dixie Bearing before his retirement.
From an early age, Mr. Deal loved sports. From age 13 to 19, he wrote sports columns for the Washington Daily News. He was a coach in the Little Tarheel Baseball leagues and Women’s softball leagues. Mr. Deal served as announcer and scorekeeper for the Babe Ruth League. He was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Washington.
Mr. Deal was an avid N.C. State Wolfpack Fan. His support began in 1956 when Willis Casey was coach.
Mr. Deal is survived by his wife Debbie Congleton Deal of the home; his daughter, Jessica Woolard and son-in-law, Josh of  Washington; his father and stepmother, Bryan and Shirley Deal of Chocowinity; his two grandchildren, Colby Deal-Woolard and Felicity Woolard, both of Washington; two nieces, Paula Nobles of Vanceboro, Jacy Congleton of Tennessee; two nephews, Adam Congleton of Winterville,  Joe Paul Congleton of Clayton; two great-nieces; three great-nephews; mother-in-law, Joyce Congleton; step-siblings, Donna Bennett of Chocowinity, Rhonda Taylor of Chocowinity, Sonja Lane of New York, Ricky Peed of Washington, Mark Peed of Chocowinity.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Deal was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Paul Congleton; paternal grandparents, Dettie and Addie Smithwick Deal; maternal grandparents, Jesse B. and Elizabeth Ross Tyer; and his two dogs, Puddles and Peanut.

The family will receive friends tonight from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the home.
The family would like to thank the staff of Vidant Beaufort Hospital and all the friends he has met over the years at Blackbeard’s Restaurant and Pam’s Diner for their love and compassion shown to him.
