Tabatha Woolard, a child care teacher in the 3-year-old classroom at Kids Kollege, was the winner of a raffle for $500 on Friday.
Woolard’s winning ticket was drawn by Washington Daily News publisher Ashley Vansant in the first-ever raffle fundraiser for the Beaufort/Hyde Partnership for Children. Catherine Keech, program services supervisor with BHPC, delivered the news to the winner.
“I’m a praying woman. … I prayed that I would win,” Woolard said.
A long-time early childhood educator, Woolard is a deserving recipient of the $500 prize, Keech said.
“Ms. Tabby (as she is known in the classroom) focuses on the strengths of each child, helping them grow through her nurturing kindness to reach their full developmental potential.”
The partnership had hoped to sell 1,800 raffle tickets, with proceeds benefitting the Parents as Teachers family support program and other early childhood initiatives. About 1,400 tickets were sold. BHPC always has outreach projects and many ways for the community to get involved.
