There are many causes that we, as individuals, take to heart in life for the betterment of our community, state and nation. Be they religious, political or humanitarian, many are worthy of support.
But there is one cause most deserving of our solemn veneration and reverence: placing one’s life on the line in defense of our country, our flag, our people and our principles.
Throughout the years, millions of young men and women, our best and brightest, have answered the call to stand guard for our nation. In the past 100 years, they have battled on land, sea and in the air around the globe.
What originally was known as Armistice Day marking the end of World War I is now Veterans Day, a time for Americans to honor those who have served in the armed forces.
Tradition has it that the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month is the time to pause and reflect on their sacrifice.
Not only on Veterans Day but everyday, our servicemen and women have earned our gratitude.
