Bath – Pauline Collier Allen, 87, formerly of Smithfield, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, in Beaufort County Hospital. She was born Aug. 11, 1923, in Johnston County to the late Holly Memphis “Bud” and Rittie Vandora Pope Collier. On Feb. 1, 1942, she married Julius Cleon Allen who preceded her in death on July 25, 2008. Pauline attended the Bath Christian Church since 2001 when she and Julius moved to Bath to be near their daughter.
A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Oakland Heights Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
Surviving are her son, Dan Allen and wife Ann of Tryon; daughter, Barbara A. Oliver of Bath, 4 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to either the Bath Community Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 176, Bath, NC 27808 or the Home Delivered Meals Program, P.O. Box 1358, Washington, NC 27889.
