On Jan. 17, the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a breaking and entering of a residence located on Carrow Road in Chocowinity. The homeowner discovered an air rifle was missing from a workshop located behind his residence.

The air rifle was recovered during an investigation. As a result, Investigator Robert Gaskins obtained a warrant charging Beverly Taiwan Raye, also known as Eugene Raye, 35, of Lindsay Raine Lane, Chocowinity, with one count of breaking and entering and one count of larceny after breaking and entering.

Raye was arrested May 20 and held in the Beaufort County Detention Center under a $1,000 secured bond.
