Mrs. Betty Mae Rodenbaugh Humbles, age 83, of 645 Pungo Shores Drive, Belhaven, died Tuesday, July 10, 2007 at her home.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 14 at 11 a.m. at St. Clair Church of Christ, 9814 Hwy. 99S, Bath, NC with Craig Hagen officiating. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service for a time of sharing and remembrance.
Mrs. Humbles was a native of Glenshaw, PA., the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth Rodenbaugh. She was the widow of A.T. Humbles. They married on February 1, 1950. She attended public schools in PA. She was a registered nurse and flight hostess for Trans World Airlines. She attended St. Clair Church of Christ. She was a Lioness. She served as treasurer of Sidney Volunteer Fire Dept. She was a volunteer at Pungo District Hospital and a volunteer at Belhaven Public Library. She was captain of the rescue squad while residing in New Jersey. She received the NC award for outstanding volunteer services in 2006, Lioness of the year in 1992. She was a Cub Scout den mother for many years for her sons. She was a loving wife and dedicated mother who devoted her life to her family.
Surviving are her four sons, Tom Humbles and wife Rae Jean of Baltimore, MD, Jeff Humbles of Belhaven, NC, Jim Humbles and wife Sharon of Washington, Va., Frank Humbles and wife Kim of Conway, SC; three grandchildren, Tommy Humbles and wife Theresa of Port Orange, FL, Megan and Caitlin Humbles of Washington, Va; one great grandchild, Sophia Rose Humbles of Port Orange, FL.
