Mr. William Ray Askew, Sr. age 68, a resident of 894 Baseline Road, Pinetown died Friday, July 13, 2007 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, July 15, 2007 at the Pinetown Church of Christ, conducted by Kent Gurganus. Burial will follow in the Askew Family Cemetery.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Cecil Wallace, Larry Boyd, Al Griffin, Greg Rowland, Preston Alligood, Stevie Askew, Dion Askew, and Brandon Paul.
Mr. Askew was born in Beaufort county on March 21, 1939. He was the son of the late Carnie Ray Askew and Georgia Rowland Askew. Mr. Askew graduated from Bath High School in 1957. He was a farmer and a member of the Pinetown Church of Christ.
Mr. Askew was married to the former Sherron Ann Woolard, who survives.
Surviving with his wife are his children, Sherri Boyd and her husband, Wayne of Washington, William Ray Askew, Jr. and his wife, Penny of Washington, Susan Brown and her husband, Allen of Hartsville, S.C.; his grandchildren, Laura Woolard, Nicholas Woolard, Sidney Brown, Jesse Brown, and Ruthie Askew; his sisters, Marilyn Paul and her husband, Lee of Washington, Patsy Bowen and her husband, Calvin of Virginia Beach, Va; and sister in law, Norma Askew of Pinetown.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Askew was preceded by a brother, Steve Rowland Askew, Sr.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 14, 2007 at Paul Funeral Home, Washington and other times at his home, 894 Baseline Road, Pinetown.
