As for the 5-percent reduction for city residents’ electric rate: The people in the county are now paying the money to the electric fund to operate the city. So, we are being taxed. We wish there was a line item on our electrical bill that says tax so we can count it off our taxes. We are being penalized for living outside the city. We need to have a choice of where we get our electricity from.
In your article on downtown traffic, one key point was finding ways to link Main Street with the river. I suggest tearing down the condemned buildings on the south side of Main Street. That would help a lot.
The latest change to the Washington Daily News is not something my friends and I appreciate. The way Sound Off is placed now, you are shortchanging both the editorial and Sound Off. Sound Off is one of the main reasons that many of us still buy your paper.
I really enjoyed the Memorial Day service at Veterans Memorial Park on Monday. It was a job well-done. Shame on everyone who did not attend a service. Also, the little flags we received were made in China. That defeats the purpose doesn’t it?
