Lindsay Elks’ fourth-grade science class at S.W. Snowden Elementary recently learned about electricity and how to make a simple circuit. The class worked on making closed circuits using D-cell batteries, light bulbs in holders, wires and switches. Before beginning the lesson, Elks’ students discussed the safety measures of using the materials and how the students should properly handle all materials while working on their lab activity. The end result was a series circuit like the lights on a Christmas tree.
Student Andre Moore reported, “It was fun how we put the wires together, put them with the battery and made the light bulb glow.”
Fourth-grader Chelsy Hemby added, “It was hard to do, but we finally got it!”
