Mrs. Lucille Earle Barrow Jefferson, age 100, a former resident of 540 East Main Street, Belhaven died on Sunday, July 29, 2007 at Britthaven of Washington.
A graveside funeral service for the Jefferson family will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 31, 2007 at Latham Cemetery conducted by Mike Isbell.
Mrs. Jefferson was born in Beaufort County on July 16, 1907, daughter of the late Thaddeus Barrow and the late Molly Latham Barrow. Mrs. Jefferson was a 1925 graduate of Belhaven High School and on December 29, 1927, she married the late Ernest Selma Jefferson. Mrs. Jefferson was a homemaker and was an avid member of First Christian Church in Belhaven.
Survivors include one son: Ernest Thaddeus Jefferson and his wife Sue Faircloth Jefferson; one daughter: Marilyn J. Smithwick of Belhaven; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Jefferson was preceded in death by two sisters: Mildred McKeel and Margaret Williams; and one daughter: Norma Jeane Jefferson Blake.
