CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Martin Floyd Credle, Sr., 88, of Elbow Road went to be with the Lord January 28, 2013. He was a native of Bath, North Carolina born to the late James H. and Florence Ross Credle. Besides his parents he was predeceased by ten brothers and sisters.
He served his country in the United States Navy during WWII, and served in the Armed Guard; later he was a former sales representative for Richmond Cedar Works in Great Bridge and retired as a field representative with American General Life Insurance. He was a member of Colonial Baptist Church, Virginia Beach and former charter member of Great Bridge Church of Christ; the Belhaven Masonic Lodge #509 A.F. & A.M., Belhaven, North Carolina and the Scottish Rite Bodies of Portsmouth. He was very involved in numerous civic activities in the Great Bridge area.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 62 years, Dorothy E. Credle; daughter, Deborah A. Credle; sons, Bryan K. Credle and Martin F. Credle, Jr.; granddaughters, Lillie and Emma Credle; and sister, Elizabeth Pishnock.
A service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, February 1, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home with Rev. D. Thomas Edwards. He will be laid to rest at Chesapeake Memorial Gardens with Military Honors and Masonic Rites.
