Local law enforcement is enlisting the help of the public to find a missing Aurora man.
Relatives called the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office to report of Markeith Terill Jones, 20, missing on the morning of Jan. 25.
According to a press release from the sheriff’s office, family members told investigators that Jones left his house on Spring Creek Road at 12:30 p.m. Jan. 17 to go play basketball at the Aurora school grounds.
“He was reported to have been walking to play basketball,” said Lt. Jamie Cahoon, adding that she estimated the walk from Jones’ residence to the basketball court to be three to four miles.
Jones reportedly never arrived at the basketball court and has not been seen, nor heard from, since, said the release.
On the day of his disappearance, Jones was wearing jeans, a brown-striped shirt and black sneakers. He is approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds.
