Kenneth Moore

Mr. Kenneth Moore, age 79, a resident of 118 Woodhaven Way, Washington, N.C., passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at Beaufort County Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2011, at First Church of Christ 10th Street officiated by Steve Hill and Glenn Crocker. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at the church. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.

Mr. Moore was born August 18, 1931, in Beaufort County, the son of the late Robert Clifton Moore and Ethel Jordan Moore. On Dec. 25, 1954, he married Charlotte Radcliff. He served his country in the United States Army. While serving in the Army, he fought in the Korean War and received the Purple Heart. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Kenneth served in the Merchant Marines where he traveled to many countries later being employed by Exxon Shipping Company, where he served on the first super tanker that traveled to Alaska. He retired from Exxon after 25 years of service. Mr. Kenneth will be remembered for his love of traveling, fishing, and love for his family. He was known as “Gran Gran” to his grandchildren and close friends.

Mr. Moore is survived by his wife, Charlotte R. Moore of the home, one daughter, Beverly Moore Wilkerson and husband, Max of Washington, one sister, Alma Joyce Credle of Bath, five grandchildren, Derek Wilkerson, Scott Wilkerson, Kayce Wilkerson, Clifton Moses, and Corby Moses. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca M. Moses, and four brothers, Clifton Moore, Herman Moore, Willis Moore, and Muriel Moore Sr.
