Mr. Garland Selby Woolard, age 87, a resident of 4890 Slatestone Road, Washington died Thursday afternoon, February 14, 2013, at River Trace.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Pamlico Memorial Gardens officiated by Pastor Phillip Jethro and William Ray Askew.

Mr. Woolard was born in Beaufort County on July 30, 1925, son of the late William Marshall Woolard and Thillia Woolard. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Woolard was a retired farmer and was once employed at Weyerhaeuser Tree Farm. He was a member of Rosemary Church of Christ and was a former member of the Red Men Lodge. He enjoyed his friends and loved his grandchildren.

On January 4, 1951, he married Delma Lee Neal Woolard who preceded him in death on April 29, 1989.

Mr. Woolard is survived by his son, Scott B. Woolard and wife Gladys of Washington; his grandchildren, Nicholas Woolard of Charlotte, Laura Jackson and husband Justin of Jacksonville and their mother, Sherri Boyd of Washington; Phil Trueblood and wife Jessica of Washington and their children, Braxton and Cassidy.

He is preceded in death by three brothers, Lindsey Woolard, Hallet Woolard and George Woolard and his sister, Lola Woolard.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service and other times at the home of his son, Scott Woolard, 1363 C.B.H. Lodge Road, Washington.
