Mrs. Rosa Lee Wood Quidley, affectionately known as “Mama Rosie” to many, age 63, and a resident of 34389 N.C. Highway 264 E., Belhaven, N.C., died Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2011, at the First Assembly of God Church in Belhaven officiated by Pastor Allen Harmon and Pastor Ron Bousquet. Burial will follow in Belhaven Community Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bobby Harper, Wayland Alligood, Tommy Edwards, Ryan Quidley, Wayne Davis and Fredrick Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Jefferson, Conway Potter, Sherman Cahoon and Charles Wilkins.
Mrs. Rosie was born in Wilkes County on Feb. 20, 1948, daughter of the late George Washington Wood and the late Ocea Rutter Wood. She attended North Wilkes High School and married Robert Glenn Quidley on Nov. 13, 1965, who survives. She was an assistant lab technician with C.O. Boyette Medical Clinic where she was an uplifting spirit to many patients. She attended The River Church of Bath.
Surviving along with Mrs. Rosie’s husband Glenn of the home is a daughter: Tammy Quidley Allen and her husband Peter of Pantego; a son: Bobby Quidley and his wife Faye of Belhaven; a sister: Iva Dean “Deanie” Wood of Belhaven; two brothers: Paul Wood, Sr. of Belhaven and Howard Wood of Traphill, NC; five grandchildren: Joey Quidley, Jenny Quidley, Kylee Allen, Madigan Allen and Radley Allen and one great-grandchild: Cayden Quidley. Mrs. Rosie was preceded in death by a sister: Pearl Wood and a brother: Von Wood.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Paul Funeral Home of Belhaven and other times at the home.
