Road Rage

To the Editor:
Can someone tell me when the U.S. Highway 17 four-lane south of Chocowinity will be finished? I have been driving that road two to four times a day since the project started. I have seen every aspect of the project from removing the trees to paving and painting lines. I am completely sick and disgusted on how long it is taking to finish it. The four-mile-long bridge across the Tar River has been finished for a long time now. How can the bridge be built quicker than the four-lane road south of Chocowinity.
I am tired of being herded around those barrels which change lanes everyday. I never know where they will be and have hit a few. Almost hit one on my motorcycle because it was almost in the center of the lane. My Jeep has had to have new shocks, ball joints, and tie rods because of the beating it has taken from driving down that road. The uneven lane crossings, paving four inches higher or lower than the rest. I am just sick of it.
What’s even worse is the six-mile, one-lane, no passing from Chocowinity to N.C. Highway 102. Get behind a tractor or some slow cars and you are stuck. At least give us somewhere to pass; move some barrels to the side where they are not working.
