The star power was in abundance during the 2012-13 basketball season as a versatile and athletic group of players made this year’s Washington Daily News All-Area team one of the most deepest and talented in years.
Once again, Plymouth proved to be cream of the crop as the dangerous duo of Adrian Moore, the WDN Player of the Year, and Carl McCray led the Vikings on a 25-game winning streak that resulted in a Four Rivers Conference regular season and tournament title.
Nipping at the heels of the Vikings was a talented South Creek team powered by 6’5” point-center Justin Williams and the explosive Laquan Boston.
Over at Northside, the Panthers took a step closer toward joining the Vikings and Cougars as elite area teams thanks to 6’8” freshman double-double machine Edrice Adebayo.
In Chocowinity, the scrappy Seahawks gave teams fits all year and received a big boost from their lightning-quick sophomore point guard Donshae Miller, who at times looked impossible to guard.
Not to be outdone was Washington junior forward Stevie Green, whose all-around skills allowed the Pam Pack to be competitive all season long.

EDRICE ADEBAYO, C, NORTHSIDE
Not since Mychal Parker has an area basketball player received so much hype, but Northside’s 6-8 freshman Edrice Adebayo proved worthy of every bit of it as he dominated in his first varsity season. The Panthers big man pulled down a conference-best 19 rebounds per game, while tallying 17 points and four blocks per contest.

JUSTIN WILLIAMS, PF/C, SOUTH CREEK
One of the most entertaining players in the area, South Creek’s 6’5” point-center Justin Williams did just about everything for the Cougars as he dished out a conference-high 6.2 assists per game, while grabbing 8.5 rebounds and scoring 7.2 points a night. While opponents no doubt grew tired of his endless talk, his team rallied around it as Williams led the Cougars all the way into the third round of the state playoffs.

STEVIE GREEN, SF, WASHINGTON
It was an up and down year for Washington, but junior forward Stevie Green was a consistent bright spot. The smooth 6-footer was asked to do a lot for the undersized Pam Pack and he delivered by averaging 14.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game.

LAQUAN BOSTON, SF/SG, SOUTH CREEK
An explosive scorer who at times looked unstoppable, South Creek’s Laquan Boston led all Four Rivers Conference players with 21.7 points per game, while his 9.5 rebounds per contest left him just shy of averaging a double-double on the year. Far from a one-dimensional player, Boston also tallied a team-best 3.5 steals a night.

CARL McCRAY, SG, PLYMOUTH
A tested veteran for the Vikings, Carl McCray’s leadership and ability to put the ball in the hoop from any spot on the court helped turn Plymouth into one of the state’s elite teams. Slowed down by an ankle injury at the start of the season, McCray fought through the pain and helped the Vikings go on a 25-game winning streak that did not get snapped until the third round of the playoffs.

DONSHAE MILLER, PG, SOUTHSIDE
Heading into the season point guard play was a huge concern for Southside coach Sean White. However, with Miller at the helm White would soon realize there wasn’t much to worry about as the speedy sophomore tallied 12.8 points, 2.3 assists and 2.3 steals a game. Unselfish, yet able to score, Miller’s play at point was vital to the Seahawks success this season.
