Fresh produce, homemade jams and jellies, arts, crafts and herbs to plant. Washington’s Saturday Market on Stewart Parkway returns today, depending on weather, said Beth Byrd, director of Washington Harbor District Alliance.

It’s an open-air event happens each Saturday through October, one that is also open invitation: vendors aren’t required to sign up. They’re only required to show up.

“We’ve made Saturday Market so simple that basically people just show up,” Byrd said. “As long as they are selling something that is homemade or homegrown, they are welcome to come.”

Potential vendors are asked to show up at the market’s Stewart Parkway and Main Street location at 7 a.m., and one of the organizers will direct them to a location to stet up, Byrd said.

As for this Saturday, the potential for rain might keep some home, but Byrd said the market will go on rain or shine.

“If somebody wants to bring a big tent and sit out in the rain, they certainly can,” she laughed.

The market runs from 8 a.m. until noon. In the past, products for sale have included hand-built Adirondack chairs, homemade soaps, used books, perennials, herbs, many types of vegetables, fresh-baked breads and much more.
