Mr. George Wesley Davenport, Sr. 68, of 1254 McNair Road, Plymouth, died May 1, 2013 at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.
A funeral will be held at noon Monday at Long Ridge Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. General James officiating. Burial will follow in Moore-McNair Cemetery.
Mr. Davenpot was born on April 28, 1945, in Washington County. He was the son of the late James Davenport and Mary Clark Davenport. He was a member of Long Ridge Missionary Baptist Church and a truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Theresa Cherry Davenport, of the home; two sons: George Wesley Davenport, Jr. and Alton James Davenport, both of Plymouth; daughter: Patricia Ann Burnette, Chapel Hill; Alton Bernard Davenport, Plymouth, James Lee Davenport, Charlotte; stepbrother, Donald Teel, Roper; two stepsisters: Carolyn Rich, New York, and Geraldine Basnight, Roper; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Toodle’s Funeral Home and other times at the home.
