Frances Speight Daw

Mrs. Frances Speight Daw, age 90, a resident of Cedar Circle, Washington, NC, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2013 at Ridgewood Manor. A graveside celebration of her life will be held Monday, June 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Pamlico Memorial Gardens, Washington, NC officiated by David Thompson and Edmund “Ed” Hill. The family will receive friends tonight from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Hillside Funeral Service & Cremations, 4500 Hwy 264 E., Washington, NC and other times at the home.

Mrs. Daw was born in Pitt County on November 21, 1922 daughter of the late Fred and Mary Little Speight. She had worked as a clerk with Colonial and Big Star Grocery Stores and retired after 20 years of service. Mrs. Daw was a member of Peace Chapel Free Will Baptist Church.

Mrs. Daw is survived by her daughter, Carol Jean Waters; her sons, James Anthony Waters and wife Delores, Johnny Hassell Waters, Jr. and wife Darlene and William Dwight “DW” Waters and wife Tammy; her grandchildren, Chad Keech, Carol Lee Keech, Deanna Waters Fail, Tom Fail, James Waters, Jr., Nicole Waters, John Michael Waters, Lee Waters, Jen Waters, Dustin Waters and Carla Waters; and her great grandchildren, Zack, Caden and Nicholas Keech, Carrie Ryan, Christi and Tommy Fail, James Waters, Andrew Marino, Macie Ann Waters, Colby Waters and Leah Grace Waters; and her devoted friend Peter Dunn.

Mrs. Daw was preceded in death by her husbands, Johnny Hassell Waters, Bunnie Snow Chandler and David McCoy Daw; her son, Donald Ray Waters; her grandson, Melvin Raleigh Keech, Jr., her great grandson, Cecil Dylan Waters and her grand daughter-in-law, Melissa Ann Keech.

The family suggests memorials be made to Peace Chapel Free Will Baptist Church, 2480 W. 5th St., Washington, NC 27889.
