Tyrrell County 4-H is offering a variety of events to enjoy over the next few months.
The events include:
Young Chefs:
“Let’s get cooking! Come enjoy two days in the kitchen cooking up snacks, lunch, desserts, and fruity drinks, Space is Limited.
June 12 and 13 10:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
County Day:
“Please come to the Extension office to perfect your 4-H Presentation for Congress. Times will be announced once registrations are in.
June 14
4-H Summer Camp
“Discover the possibilities at the 4-H Eastern Center in Columbia, NC! Enjoy a week of kayaking, canoeing, shooting sports, climbing wall, sports, and pool time. Make memories and friendships for a lifetime.
June 16
2013 4-H Congress
Let’s head to Raleigh, NC to the home of the Wolfpack! Enjoy 4 days at North Carolina State University doing presentations, leadership workshops, Honor Club Tapping, Campaign Booths, Dances, and the Candlelight Clover Event.
June 22-25
Safety Day
Join us at the 2013 Safety Day to learn more about water safety, roadway safety, sun safety, animal safety and hidden hazards safety. Enjoy the interactive and informative workshops, snack, and lunch. Transportation will be provided. Meet at the Extension office at 8:30 a.m., returning at 3:00 p.m.
July 2
“Jammin with Dee”
Learn how to can your very own Strawberry Jam with Dee Furlough, Tyrrell County Extension Agent.
July 3
Science. Biotechnology. Investigate.
Come and learn how to crack a murder mystery case as you become a Crime Science Investigator. Campers will get to conduct their own biotechnology experiments and questions the suspects. All to reveal the TRUE Killer. S.B.I. Academy is at NC Wesleyan College Rocky Mount, NC. Open to all Rising 6th-8th graders.
July 10-12
Tyrrell County Adventure Day
Join us while we head to the Red Wolf Education and Health Care Facility. Next, we’ll go to the Pocosin Lake National Wildlife Refuge to see some black bears. We’ll head back to town for lunch and snacks and finish up with a ride on the river on a pontoon boat. Meet at the office at 8:20 a.m. and plan to return at 2:00 p.m.
4-H Electric Congress
The 66th Annual 4-H Electric Congress will be held at UNC Charlotte. Enjoy the day at Carowinds and go on a hot air balloon ride. More details to come for the youth who are eligible to go on this all-expense paid trip.
July 22-24
OBX Day Adventure
July 16-18
Let’s take a trip to the OBX. We will be visiting the National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, Catch the “Puss in Boot” show at the Lost Colony, attend Kids’ Day at Kitty Hawk Kites, Picnic at Jockey’s Ridge State Park, Make your own Pottery at Glazin’ Go Nuts, Enjoy the Children’s Show “Charlotte’s Web” at the Roanoke Island Festival Park and board a ship at Pirate Adventures in Manteo! We will be leaving the Tyrrell County Extension Center at 8:30 a.m. each day and returning at 5:00 p.m.
OBX Day Excursions
Let’s take a trip to the OBX. We will be visiting the Elizabethan Gardens for a fun scavenger hunt, the National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center, Jockey’s Ridge State Park for a picnic, and Glazin’ Go Nuts to make your own Pottery. We will be leaving the Extension Office at 8:30 a.m. each day and returning at 5:00 p.m.
