Mrs. Elsie Marie Langley Jones, age 84, a resident of 760 Mimosa Shores Road, Washington, NC, died Friday, June 14, 2013 at Vidant Beaufort Hospital of Washington, NC.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 17, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church of Washington officiated by Rev. Lee Kinney. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery of Washington, NC.
Mrs. Jones was born in Pitt County on August 1, 1928 to the late David Hamilton Langley and Esther Elizabeth Campbell Langley. On August 17, 1947, she married the late Dr. Albert McCray Jones, Sr., who preceded her in death on June 13, 2011. Mrs. Jones, or “Weet Ma” as she was affectionately known by her grandchildren and countless others, served her family and friends with a gentle spirit and an inward grace. She was a homemaker who filled her home with love and patience as she and Dr. Jones raised their family. Mrs. Jones was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Stratford Book Club and the Monday Morning Breakfast Club.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her children: Albert McCray “Mac” Jones, Jr. and wife Carol of Washington, NC, Frances Jones Nelson and husband C.J. of Creedmoor, NC., David “D” Jones and wife Emily of Columbia, SC and Kevin L. Jones and wife Melinda of Hendersonville, TN, her grandchildren: Dr. Mac Jones, III and wife Lauren of Washington, NC, Sara Ashley Jones of Washington, NC, Savannah Jones Blackmon and husband Chuck of Greenville, NC, Anna Frances Jones of Columbia, SC, Allie Jones of Greenville, NC, Kevin L. Jones III of Hendersonville, TN and Avery Jones of Hendersonville, TN, two great grandchildren: Mary McCray Jones of Washington, NC and Billy Wayne Blackmon, Jr. of Greenville, NC and a brother: David Franklin Langley and wife BeLin of Chocowinity, NC.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Jones is preceded in death by a brother: Vann Taylor Langley.
The family will receive friends on Sunday June 16, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home & Crematory of Washington and other times at the home located at 760 Mimosa Shores Road, Washington, NC or the home of her son and daughter-in-law: Mac and Carol Jones 748 Mimosa Shores Road, Washington, NC.
