Beadie Cayton Meeks

Mrs. Beadie Cayton Meeks, 98, of Ayden, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 24, 2013.

The funeral service will be conducted Friday at 2 pm in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery in Washington.

Mrs. Meeks, a native of Beaufort County, was a faithful wife and mother. She was a homemaker, farmer’s wife, caregiver, and seamstress and for many years specialized in draperies. She loved gardening, especially flowers, and dedicated her entire life to raising her children, loving them unconditionally. She held a very special place in her heart for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Cayton; and daughters, Bennie Carolyn Cayton and Frances Buck.

She is survived by her daughters, Christine Purser Waters, of Chocowinity and Juanita Coward Hardee and husband, James, of Greenville, and Estelle Cayton Clark and husband, John, of FL; son, Bobby Glen Cayton and friend, Barbara, of Washington, NC; 14 grandchildren, Mike, Barry and Billy Purser, Stephanie Moore, Frankie Buck, Donna Rouse, Becky Jester, Doug Coward, Cindy Thomason, Jason and Beth Clarke, Jeffrey, Jeremy and Josh Cayton; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 pm at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
